When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Cheer Up!

If you have been struggling to let go of something in your past, try to cheer up first and then try to forgive and move forward!

Encouraging you to cheer up on near a river.
Life could always be worse!

Lately I have been thinking some very negative thoughts because my foot pain is so severe that it disrupts my sleep and I will soon have painful amputation surgery.  Thinking as negatively as I have been lately, it has been necessary for me to wear my night guard during the day because of my teeth grinding. “Why was I even born? Did I have to be born to a Mother who has never loved me?”  I have also been considering about asking the surgeon to give me the amputated parts of my right foot so I can somehow find a way to give them to my mother with a thank you note for not giving me proper fitting shoes as a child.  Of course, I would also need to mention in my thank you note the fact that none of my siblings have ever had ANY foot issues.

But yesterday I started thinking more positively.  Now I am simply looking forward to my amputation surgery that will happen two weeks from tomorrow.  Recovery will be long and painful but after recovery my right foot will feel great the way my left foot has since recovering from its amputation surgery in June of last year. What changed my thoughts?

What cheered me up?

Yesterday we took my husband’s car to get the tire shop for repair.  Sitting next to my husband in the waiting room was a six year-old boy who looked very charming.  Complimenting her son, we began to chat with his Mom.  She had had the lower part of her left leg amputated due to a blood clot following heart surgery.  Now she cannot get a job because she is an insurance risk, a fall risk.  And she also has many other issues, which she told us about.

Somehow after meeting this woman, I started to cheer up.  Due to no fault of her own, her life is much harder than my own.  In fact, I live on easy street compared to her and her five children. After chatting with this woman, I actually felt like forgiving my mother.

You have had challenging experiences in your life too.  And you probably continue to have challenges in your life.  But whatever you are going through, always remember that someone else lives a life much harder than your own, and cheer up! Then try to forgive others and move forward.

CHEER UP and soar like an eagle over life’s storms.
