What is your biggest accomplishment?
I do not know what your biggest accomplishment is, but mine is bouncing back.
Bouncing back has many meanings, but to me it means these things.
- Refusing to listen to any negative chatter in my own head or other people’s perception of myself.
- Creating something from nothing.
To some people, I may appear to be successful in spite of many hardships. But to get where I am, I had to give myself a million second chances. Every time I got to second chance number 999,999, I had to hit the reset button.
I had to stop asking others to accept me and unapologetically do what I needed to do to succeed. Knowing I would be successful no other way, I had to drive the car of my life until the wheels fell off. Then, after I kept driving even after the wheels fell off, my success and happiness came.
My decision to keep bouncing back and not give up led to my success. And this decision came from my Grandma patiently teaching me as a child to always persist. It also came from hitting rock bottom and knowing I had to climb my way out of the hole I had fallen into. I had to like myself first and not care if anyone else liked me. Then I had to make decisions, minute by minute and hour by hour, that would take me to success in spite of all of my problems.
The truth is that when you hit rock bottom emotionally or financially, you only have two options—to give up on life or to move up in life.
When you hit rock bottom, please do not give up. Please keep trying to climb to the top. Always remember that the only person who can rescue you is yourself and the only way to do this is to never give up.
I hope your biggest accomplishment is bouncing back too!
