When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Facebook “Like” Farming

Encouraging you to avoid becoming Facebook "like" farming victim on near a river.

Don’t become a victim of Facebook “like” farming!

Have you ever come across a cute picture on Facebook that tugs at your heart strings?  Pictures of puppies that need a good home or a cute child who needs help of some kind?

When you come across these pictures, you probably instinctively hit the thumbs up or add a comment or might even share the posting.  Even if you do not know the person who originally posted it, what harm could come from doing this?

Fraud experts say that lots of harm can come from doing this to posts posted by people you do not know.  You may become a victim of “like farming”.

Here is how the like farming process works.

  • The fraud perpetrator creates a post that generates attention and will continue to show up in more and more people’s news feeds.
  • Once the fraud perpetrator generates enough likes and shares, he or she changes the content of the page and promotes something like a bogus business or a too-good-to-be-true product.

You can avoid becoming a victim of Facebook “like” farming by thinking before you like.  First ask yourself if the person who created this post is someone you can trust.  If not, just ignore the post no matter how cute it is.  Be suspicious of any post designed to elicit an emotional response, especially the ones that promise a donation to a charitable cause when enough likes have occurred.

Use your privacy settings also.  Try allowing only your friends to see your comments.  Impostors often get information about others from their online interactions and can make themselves sound like a friend or family member because they know so much about you.

I hope you never become a victim of Facebook “like” farming!

I’m extremely inspired together with your writing skills and also with the layout for your blog.
Is this a paid subject matter or did you modify it yourself?
Anyway stay up the nice quality writing, it is rare to look a
nice weblog like this one nowadays..
