Finally!

Finally the US Government is doing something our country has needed for a long time!

An officer demonstrates the medication drop off at his police station.

In the small town of Celina in Clay County in Tennessee, about 1.3 million opioid prescriptions have been dispensed in the past twelve months at four pharmacies. What is the problem with this number?  There are only 7,000 people in Celina, so that is 186 opioid prescriptions for each person in that small town.

The US Drug Enforcement Agency took notice of this fact. Looking for documentation that explains these prescriptions, the DEA raided the first of the four pharmacies in question, the X Press Pharmacy, at 8 am one morning. The other three would be raided in quick succession.

Finally!

So the US Government is finally responding

to the 14,520 drug abuse deaths last year alone

that were related to opioid abuse!

You can help with this issue also.  Just think about how you handle the opioid medications in your home.

  • If you have any extra opioid pain medications in your home, take them to your police department to discard them properly or obtain a Dispose RX bag from the pharmacy.  This bag allows you to mix your leftover pain medication with water.  Inside this bag mixed with water, your leftover pain medication becomes an inert harmless gel that you can put down your drain safely without harming the water supply in your area.
  • Do not even allow others to know that you have opioid medications in your home.
  • If you have children, keep your medications locked up where they cannot get them, regardless of your children’s ages.
  • Also, if you have reason to suspect that a medical provider or pharmacy might be encouraging our addiction crisis, you should report this (anonymously if you wish) to your local police department.

Did you know that opioid addiction leads to addiction to other illegal drugs and that all addiction can lead to more crime and more violence?

Also, if your loved one is abusing either prescription or street drugs, please let the authorities know.  Tough love keeps people alive!  Click here to read about what happened to others who did not practice tough love!

Because we all deserve to live in a safe and healthy world, perhaps we should all work together to prevent any further addiction.

I refuse to participate in the Opioid crisis.

Yes, you can enable your child to say no to drugs!

Certainly tough love instead of paper-thin love would help!

Just how bad does our drug crisis have to get before we take action?
