Three strategies you can use to get the promotion you deserve!
Have you ever wondered why you are passed up for promotions at work? Even though you always do your best and accomplish your work goals?
Tonight on my way home from an Eastern Star meeting, John Tesh announced the reasons why a person, particularly a woman, does not get the promotion she deserves.
According to John Tesh, researchers have found three reasons why someone does not get that deserved promotion.
-
Apologizing profusely.
When you walk into a meeting late, just say “Sorry I ‘m late” and sit down. Instead of apologizing in this manner, many women take their apology too far. A woman might say, “I’m sorry I’m late. The kids were running late this morning”. This causes your boss to think you have too many distractions in your life to give your job the attention it deserves.
-
Not bragging about your work accomplishments.
Researchers also found that people who brag about their work accomplishments are more likely to get promotions. Men usually brag more about their work accomplishments than women do. Both men and women need to brag!
-
Not applying for promotions early enough.
People who wait until they have met all the requirements to apply for a promotion wait too long, according to John Tesh’s research. Go ahead and apply for a promotion even if you have not met every single requirement. When you apply for the promotion, brag about your accomplishments. Be honest about why you deserve the promotion!

If your boss has denied you a promotion, think about applying these three tips to your work day for a while and then try again.
Yes, you can get the promotion you deserve at work!
