Healthy Boundaries

Encouragement to maintain healthy boundaries on near a river.

Do not let any unhealthy relationship hurt you.  Maintain healthy boundaries.

Today my sister sent a nasty email to me.   She accused me of things I have not done.   Her email violated all boundaries of a healthy relationship and was very nasty and negative.

I did not read the email, though.  Someone read the email for me and replied on my behalf.  My friend told her that her email was negative and therefore I would not see it.  Then my friend set up a filter to send my sister’s emails to my spam folder.

My bossy and controlling sister seems to think that just because she is a program director at Northwest Georgia Technical College she can do anything she wants to do to anyone.  So she seems to think she can hurt anyone she wants to hurt, including me. But she is definitely wrong.

This was not the first time my sister violated boundaries for a healthy relationship.  Then she has done that every in email she has sent this week and she did it when she sent me a threatening text yesterday morning as I sat down to breakfast.

If your family is dysfunctional, you need to maintain healthy boundaries.  Do whatever you must do to protect yourself from negative attacks.  Get a friend to check your email from your family and screen your phone calls. And let someone help you by reading communications before you do and telling you not to read combative messages.

Do not let any dysfunctional person cause you any more pain. As You deserve a break from all negativity.

Philippians 4:8 has good advice for every person.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right,

and pure, and lovely, and admirable.

Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

It is wise to focus on the positives in your life, not on the dysfunctional people in your life. As dysfunctional people can drag you down and they can make you feel more depressed and anxious.

Soar like an eagle over life’s storms and maintain healthy boundaries in all relationships!
