When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Love Your Canine Furson…

Encouragement to reward your canine with a special treat on near a river.

Show your canine family member how much you love him…

Do you have a furry canine person in your family or “furson”? If so, you know how much your furson improves your life.  He cheers you up when you feel down, always waits eagerly to greet you when you return home, and loves you unconditionally. He also lowers your blood pressure and improves your health just by loving you.

I am sure that fursons get bored with eating the same food over and over, night after night.  One of our two fursons even dances on his hind legs to convince us to give him our people food when we are eating.  He is so cute when he does this that we struggle to not give him whatever we happen to be eating. Today I found a special meal made with people food that a furson can safely eat, even if he is diabetic.

With 10 minutes of preparation time and 20 minutes of bake time, you can economically make a special meal for your four-legged loved one that he will love that will not harm him.

Want to make a cake for your “furson”?

Purchase these ingredients:

  • 1 pound of liver (approximately four pieces) or 1 can of salmon (save the juice).
  • 2 whole eggs with shells (yes, shells are good for animals).
  • 1 ½ cups flour (preferable oat flour)
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder (aluminum free)
  • A pinch of salt.
  • A small can of chicken stock.

Then follow these instructions to prepare your canine companions treat.

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place all ingredients except chicken stock in a food processor or blender and puree until the mixture is batter consistency. Use the chicken stock to thin the mixture to a cake batter consistency if necessary.
  • Grease and flour an eight inch by eight inch baking pan, or line the pan with parchment paper to make it easy to remove.
  • Bake for fourteen to twenty minutes depending on your oven. When the cake appears to have risen, stick a toothpick in.  When the toothpick comes out clean, your furson’s treat is ready to be eaten!

Our two canine companions are like children to us.  So when we get home from our winter trip, we will have a special date night with them.  We will make this recipe for them with love, set their place mat with a nice water bowl, and serve them this decadent meal. Between the two of them, there will not be a single crumb left and they will continue to love us forever.

Show him how much you love him by making him a special meal!
