Have you ever considered the world of options available to you?
My husband, a diabetic, loves to eat sweets and junk foot. Recently we’ve been trying to curb his habit by stocking the kitchen with healthier food choices.
Today we prepared to drive an hour to a friend’s home. I got into the car first with our two dogs. My hubby locked the house, walked to the car, and buckled himself into the driver’s seat. Before he backed out of the driveway, he placed a small bag of carrots on the console and munched them all during our short road trip.
On the way to our friend’s home, I thought about what had just happened, and the fact that we all have options. Our decisions improve or hamper our future, just like our food choices do.
For example, if we focus on the negative news the media constantly exposes us to, we think negatively. Negative thoughts lead to negative actions, which often arouse others to do negative things also.
But we have options.
We can flip the channel to a different station when the news broadcasters begin announcing a pessimistic story. Even if a grain of truth hides somewhere within it, is it good for us to watch this?
I may seem naive to you when I flip the TV station to avoid allowing a stranger to program my head with adverse thoughts, but I would rather have a simple, childlike mind than allow others to inflame my soul.
Life is simply too short. Anger is unhealthy and leads to depression and anxiety and health problems. And we all have plenty of physical and emotional issues without allowing others to fester more inside of us.
Parents, please set a good example for your children, the future of your family and our society as well! Remember that ‘do as I say not as I do” doesn’t work; they will do as you do!
The world is full of options.
Wouldn’t our society would be safer and happier if we all exercised the best ones?
