When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Negative Thoughts

Encouraging you to avoid negative thoughts on near a river.

Recent research proves that negative thoughts impact your mind and body.

Recently I have been feeling overwhelmed by life events.  We are moving to a different home and preparing our current home for its new owners. However, I have had physical health issues and need a medical procedure.  I was giving in to the stress and becoming more negative and my health issues were more noticeable.

But two days ago I read about several recent medical studies.  All three support my conclusion that negative thoughts are poison.

The first concluded that we need to be mindful about our thoughts because thoughts cause mental health issues. It showed that negative thinking significantly increases depression and anxiety symptoms.

A second study concluded that negative thoughts can make you physically sick.  When you  think negative thoughts, your body creates stress hormones that deactivate its natural self-repair mechanisms.

A third study found that negative thoughts can trigger emotional overload, and this in turn can cause PTSD symptoms to be worse.

After reading these medical studies, I immediately tried to change my negative thoughts.  I made a list of things I can do to help others and put it into my pocket.  I started carrying this list with me everywhere I go.  When I begin to feel down or anxious, I pull it out of my pocket and find something I can do to help someone else.  If I cannot help someone else right away, I write down a plan to help someone else as soon as possible. Then I act on that plan the first chance I get.  This resets my brain and improves my physical and emotional well-being.

Since I have been doing mindfully practicing this for the past few days, my health issues are less noticeable.  Even though my current life stressors are still present, I feel much less depression and anxiety.

Calm your anxiety and overcome your depression and PTSD.
