End American Angst

Americans rightfully have much angst while waiting for final election results. Here is a way we can all feel good about the accuracy.

On November 3, 2020, we all expected to have an idea of who our next leaders will be, but this didn’t happen. Today, four days later, we still don’t know. Mail in ballots have caused delays in accurate results. Since some states  mailed ballots out to every registered voter, some people might have voted from the grave. Others may have voted twice, once using the ballots forwarded from their former address and again with the ones sent to their current homes. In some places, votes received in the mail after election day have been counted.

We all–Democrats, Republicans,

and the Independents–feel angst over this issue.

Don’t these election problems invalidate the results? How can we make good decisions about how to handle our finances and other aspects of our lives if without this vital information?

My SUV, a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, has almost one hundred thousand miles. Its back up camera no longer works and recently we’ve had to make a few somewhat costly repairs. So, I’ve been looking for its replacement. I want one that will last another thirteen years or more without too many issues. But election angst is causing me to be unable to choose my next vehicle.

Joe Biden has said numerous times that he will ban fracking, thereby causing fuel costs to skyrocket. His running mate Kamala Harris is all for the ‘green new deal’, and one component of this major life change is reducing and/or eliminating private transportation that requires gasoline fuel. So, if the Democrats are elected, I need a hybrid vehicle, one that I can charge in my garage.

But if Trump is elected, our fuel cost will remain steady at the record low prices we’ve paid recently, and I can simply buy a regular car (which I’d prefer since replacement batteries for hybrid vehicles cost around $8,000).

So, which kind of car should I buy, if my thirteen year-old car dies sooner rather than later?

Other Americans have questions, whose answers also depend on how the election is resolved. What should I do with my investments? Should I pull my money out of the stock market and my IRA and buy gold or silver, or should I leave it where it is? Should I buy a gun to protect myself before the democrats repeal our second amendment rights?

There is one way to end American angst. If the Supreme Court were to nullify the results of every state that mailed ballots, those states could vote again—this time in person. Then the results would be accurate and we could make sound decisions for our financial futures. In spite of the fact that I’m high risk for covid, I’d be willing to show up to cast my ballot. I’d do that to honor my freedom that so many soldiers have fought and died to protect.

Come on, Washington—please end America’s angst.
