Eliminate Futility

Encouragement to eliminate futility from your life on near a river.

How to eliminate futility in your life to improve your well being!

Frequently the trees that surround our mountain home drop sticks into our yard.  This morning I noticed an odd-looking stick from a white birch tree.  It was about 18 inches long and appeared to be rotting. In the middle of it, there was a futile tiny red and green spot where a new branch was trying to grow.

I looked at that stick for a minute and it reminded me of a fact of life. To thrive, we must continually  remove useless things from our lives.

Because I have struggled with depression, anxiety, and PTSD for many years, I have learned this lesson the hard way.  As I continually remove useless things from my life, I feel much better emotionally and physically.

I used to be very angry with my ex.  After all, he caused me lots of emotional and physical pain.  He hit me and knocked me down the stairs of our home. I miscarried a child because of his abuse. After many years, I figured out that harboring those negative feelings toward him was futile.

I forgave him.

I let go of my anger and desire for revenge since they are futile. So after I let go of them, I felt much better.  My depression and anxiety bother me so much less, and my PTSD is much more controllable now. Note:  I forgave him, but I never will let my guard down and stop protecting myself from him.

When you are feeling poorly due to your mental health issues, ask yourself what your futile thoughts are.  Find a way to stop thinking those thoughts.  Forgive others who have hurt you.

If you let go of the futility in your life, you will feel much better.
