Georgie

We can all learn something from the story of Georgie!

Today I watched something interesting.

Two dogs, who had previously been their own little pack, met Georgie in their own home. The pack members and this outsider walked in circles, smelling each other, and chased each other around the furniture. At least ten times, I held my breath as I watched the three fight.  Sometimes they tried to get the people around them involved, but the humans just stood back observing, ready to separate the dogs if necessary. More than once one dog tried to get someone to pick him up.

My heart beat quickly and I had to look away at times.

Outsider Georgie is older than the other two and has a severe heart murmur. The other two are designer dogs and he’s a black mutt with some grey hair, and they simply don’t accept him.

But Georgie stood his ground. Now he is President Georgie. Undoubtedly, he earned this honor. He has much more experience in critical areas of dog pack leadership—important things like fighting for food, water, and personal space.

The former president, now deposed, is struggling  to accept his new place in his own territory. He continues to bark at Georgie each time the ouster moves to a different part of his home. The humans grit their teeth and watch, ready to step in and separate the three canines. They do not participate in the disputes.

The former leader has also expressed his disdain by peeing in the floor, attempting to ruin the house.

As long as the humans in the home have the strength to refrain from participating in the negativity, this home will be peaceful again before long.

Do you see the similarities and differences

between this home and our country?

Washington, D.C. had long been dominated by politicians. An outsider businessman arrived and they resented his presence, like the two dogs disliked Georgie.

  • The family members voted with their silence to accept the new dog, like US voters chose the ‘un-politician’ to lead them. Just as the designer dogs continue to bark at Georgie, outsider Donald Trump cannot do anything without intense criticism,  Trump is different and the other politicians don’t like him.
  • But in this country, too many Americans have joined in the dispute. They express their feelings by rioting, destroying property, and sometimes killing others.

America, wake up! Stop participating in the Washington, D.C. negativity! Stop feeding into it! Watch what’s going on, decide who you support, and express your opinion in the voting booth.
