There is a hairclip on the tails of both US Democrats and Republicans. Who will remove it?
My husband told me a story about a woman he dated years ago, about her cat and her hairclip.
He had taken this woman, “Marie” in this story, out on a few dates. Then she invited him to her apartment. To impress my husband, she removed her hair clip and placed it on the tail of her cat, who lived in her apartment with her, of course. Since cats have sensitive tails, the cat screamed and ran jumped to high places where neither my hubby or his date could get it. Finally, my hubby threw his coat over the cat to catch it and held it inside his coat while Marie removed the hair clip from her poor screaming animal’s tail. This was a difficult situation!
This woman did not impress my husband. He truly loves animals and feels compassion for them. He asked her to promise to always treat her cat lovingly, even if he was not present at the time. He felt as though his date had put the clip on his own tail!
There were two results from Marie’s unkindness to her cat. Of course, Marie’s cat turned against her. For weeks, this poor cat sat on the back of the couch, looking out the front window for someone she could trust. Also, my husband stopped communicating with her.
What can we learn from this story?
First…
We should all be nice to each other, since we all live together in our great country! We must put our differences aside and get along!
Deliberately causing another person pain causes problems.
Second…
After one party puts a clip on a second party’s tail, party two will not want to work with the first on anything. If the first party wants or needs to work together with the second party in the future, the first will have to work very hard. In fact, the first party will probably have to concede and do something that it would not have done otherwise.
Third…
If the second party does ever communicate kindly to the first, perhaps the first should work with the other one. We all live together in our country just like the members of our government do. And we need the opposing sides of our government to work together.

But, I would like to add some commentary to my hubby’s story. When one party puts a clip on another party’s tail and the other party responds by doing the same, it is even more difficult to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, both parties must remove the hairclip from each other’s tail to get along and live and work together.
Whichever party removes the other’s clip first is the hero!
