A simple strategy to keep the keys so others cannot drive you over the edge!
Yesterday something happened that caused me to experience both anxiety and depression. I read a book and took a nap to feel better. Then this morning, I realized I had used the wrong approach. I had given this web page group the chance to upset me. I did not keep the car keys to myself and prevent this group from driving me near the edge.
This morning I remembered something my Grandma taught me. When anything bugged her, she would help someone else to take her mind off of whatever was bugging her. When her mind was clear, she would think about the situation and deal with it.
So this morning, I found two people I could help. We are moving and have extra boxes, so I took some to friends who are moving who also need boxes. On the way home, I stopped to chat with another neighbor. I had an item that might help her with an issue she is having. I went home and got it and put it into her mail box.
After I had helped two neighbors, my mind was clear. I was able to process what happened yesterday clearly. I realized it simply does not matter. It is not worth any time I could spend thinking about it. So I stopped renting it space in my brain and simply put it out of my head.
If you have anxiety, depression, or PTSD like I do, try the same strategy. You might find yourself feeling much better. If you have PTSD, simply keep a list of things you can do to help others with you at all times. When you start to have a PTSD event, find something on your list you can do right away.
Help others and help yourself at the same time!
