Strategies to help you love  life and yourself.

Do you feel sad and depressed? Feel anxious or want to change your self-defeating behaviors?

You can overcome depression and anxiety and change negative behaviors.

First, you need to love and accept yourself for who you are right now. Also, you must accept your life the way it is right now.

My Mother and ex-husband, both of whom were abusive to others, struggled with different forms of depression, anxiety, and self-defeating behaviors.   They were both unhappy people who did not love themselves.

I was unhappy and depressed too, when my Mother and my ex were being mean to me all the time.  I noticed this and decided to not be mean to myself.  So I always try to be kind and loving to myself.  I am the most important person in my life.

Had they loved their lives and themselves, they would not have struggled as much as they did.

How can you love your life the way it is at the moment if you are unhappy?

You love life by loving yourself.

  • Start slowly.

Learn to tolerate yourself first.   Do not even think words like “should”.  Instead of using this forbidden word, remind yourself that everyone makes mistakes and that no one is perfect.

Then as you begin to accept that you are not perfect like the rest of humankind, you can start thinking about what you are good at and valuing those gifts.  Thinking positively about yourself will help you to start loving yourself.

Then take action.  Do something for someone else each day.  Meditate and pray.  Listen to music.  Exercise as often as possible. Spend time with a loving pet and loving supportive people.  All of these things will help you to feel better about yourself and your life.

  • Stop blaming others!

Stop blaming others for your unhappiness and other issues.  You cannot make positive changes when you are busy blaming other people and things for your feelings.  Hold yourself accountable for your life! Take control and make the changes you need to make!  This includes leaving situations that are not healthy.

Right after high school graduation, I left my Mother’s home and have only returned to visit for no more than an hour.  It took me many years to find the courage to leave my abusive ex-husband.  But when I finally did, I began to love myself and love life and recover from my depression and anxiety.

Believe me , these strategies work!  You cannot hate yourself out of depression, anxiety, and negative behaviors, but you can love yourself out of these things!  It takes time to love yourself as you are at this moment, and I know you can do it.

Always remember, you are the most important person in your life so be kind and love yourself!
