Trying to Pass the Time?

Bored silly? Trying to pass the time until life returns to “normal”?

Restaurants, movie theaters, and malls are closed. Sport events are cancelled. There is nothing to do but stay home and wait out the virus, for however long it takes.

Feel like you’re going crazy? Bored silly?

Here are some things you might try to pass your time.

Enjoy free television channels!

Spectrum now gives all cable television customers free movie channels, and other providers might also.

Sling TV is giving seven days of television programming to anyone who wants it, including movies.

Learn something new!

Coursera  gives away one of the most valuable things in life: information to learn to do something you haven’t done in the past. On this website, you can learn anything from engineering to cooking to psychology–without spending any money. You can complete some classes in one day.

Check out your basement or attic…

You may have put something away that you don’t remember and could enjoy now. You might have a piano keyboard or other musical instrument stored somewhere. Or a basketball, woodworking tools, crochet materials, a sewing machine, or books you enjoyed in the past.

You can take music lessons online. (Just Google “online piano lessons” or “online guitar lessons”.)

There is another way to learn to do just about anything: YouTube. This resource has videos that show you how to do anything, from repairing your computer to cooking French food to making music.

Snuggle lots!

In my home, we snuggle lots while reading or watching TV. Did you know that human touch improves your immune system? It will help you and your loved ones fight off the virus if you have it or keep you from getting it if it hasn’t infected you yet.

Your kids do want to be snuggled even though they are depressed or tell you to keep your distance! Every human being wants to feel a loving touch.

Fighting depression?

Because of past abuse, I fight to overcome depression every day of my life. Yes, I take antidepressants, but I have found the best antidepressant doesn’t come from a pill bottle.

Helping others heals your own soul, too. It lifts your own depression and anxiety and helps you pass the time.

Just pick up your phone, and chat with someone who is lonely or appeared to be in pain when you last saw him or her. If you can afford to pick up groceries or other needed items and deliver them to someone else, please do it.

Finish a project

Have you put off completing a home repair or improvement project? Now is the time to finish it! Ask your family to help you and get it done before the end of April.

President Trump is trying to open our country again as quickly as it is safe to do so, and this will happen soon. It’s only a matter of time before you lose your days of leisure and boredom.

Don’t waste a day of your life!

Use your time to accomplish something!
