Finally reaching a goal as small as getting a Pepsi can from behind a fence improved my issues.
We live in a rural mountain community. The scenery is beautiful, but too often people passing by throw their trash by the road. My friend Wendy and I have made it our mission to keep our town beautiful.
There is a gated hydroelectric dam along our main road. A Pepsi can sat behind the fence around the dam for almost two years, teasing me because I could not pick it up to recycle. But today I finally got this misplaced Pepsi can.
As my husband and I walked past the offending Pepsi can, I noticed a small gap under the fence next to it. I searched for a stick long enough to guide the can back to my side of the fence. And I finally did it! I finally got that offending Pepsi can to take to recycling.
I felt so happy when I finally got the Pepsi can. Getting it was only a small goal, but I did it! By myself.
Having this misplaced Pepsi can in my garage instead of on the side of the road helps me tremendously. Reaching a simple goal I have had for a long time improves my depression and anxiety. My sense of well-being is improved. My PTSD is doing better now also. I feel more hopeful and productive. I am more confident, And I have a sense of accomplishment even though capturing this can was only a small goal.
