Wouldn’t it stink if the US lacked choice and competition?
In America, we don’t have to stink, because we have every opportunity to keep ourselves smelling nice. We can choose a deodorant, as well as soap, shower gel, shampoo, cologne, and other products. Because there are so many brands and products to choose from, the companies that produce them continually improve products to entice us to buy them.
We can choose the products we use to prevent body odor, and our choices create healthy competition between the companies that produce the products we buy.
Can you imagine if we only had one type of deodorant, one type of soap, one type of cologne, etc? We wouldn’t be happy because Americans have had freedom to make choices for many years.
Wouldn’t it stink if one company produced each item, and therefore US manufacturing companies didn’t improve their products very often?
Fortunately, we have choices in personal care products and many other things, as well as in health care!
If your health insurance company is not providing services in the manner you believe it should, you can switch to a different company. Even older Americans can buy their own insurance instead of accepting Medicare, and some people I know do this. They do not care for the local doctors who provide health care for patients covered by Medicare, so they have switched to other insurance.
Like our choices for personal care products, our choice among health care companies allows for competition. Since there is more than one health insurance company, all health insurance companies compete for our business. To compete, they must provide quality service.
Choice and competition have been the American way for many years, but now some Americans are trying to eliminate these two important things. They say they want to limit our health care options to one health care system provided by the government.
Government health care has no competition, the quality of care declines. People no longer have choices. Medical research becomes nonexistent, and new medications and treatments for the diseases that ail us are not created.
England has a national health care system, and British people wait much longer to see doctors than Americans. Can you believe that England’s health care ministry told a 90-year-old woman she had to wait ten years to get a hearing aid? Sadly, the British government frequently denies its citizens over age 65 the care that Americans receive, regardless of age.
Did you know that England relies on the US for medical research, as do many other countries? Would you a national health care system when you reach age 65?
Yes, some people cannot afford any health care, so perhaps that is why they want Medicare for all. Also, Obama Care has not worked out for most people. Perhaps the US needs to revamp Medicaid instead of implementing Medicare for all!
Just as Americans themselves shouldn’t stink, neither should US healthcare!
Wouldn’t losing choice and competition stink?
