When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Mark Twain Was Right

Encouraging you to understand what Mark Twain said about forgiveness on near a river.

Mark Twain was right about many things, but particularly about this topic.

Lavender is my favorite flower and scent.  After my surgeries, I insisted on having the smell of lavender near me because pain makes me feel tenser and the smell of lavender has the opposite effect. Recently I redecorated two bathrooms in our home with lavender plants, decorations, and scent. I also keep a small tin of lavender balm on my nightstand to help me relax at night so I can fall asleep faster and more deeply.

Today I was looking for quotes about lavender, and Google gave me this one:

“Forgiveness is the smell that lavender gives out when you tread on it.”
–Mark Twain

I completely agree with Mark Twain about this, because forgiveness and the scent of lavender have much in common.

Forgiveness can turn even mistakes and wrongs into something positive. And if forgiveness had a scent, the soothing fragrance of lavender filling the air seems like a wonderful and poetic way to describe it.

Like the smell of lavender, forgiveness encourages relaxation.  When we relax, we can think clearly and solve problems and move forward with our lives much more easily.  Relaxation goes hand in hand with healing and positivity.

Yes, Mark Twain was wise to compare forgiveness to the smell that lavender gives off when stepped on.

Don’t you agree that the world would be a much better place if every person let forgiveness give out the smell of lavender in his life?

Mark Twain hit the nail on the head with this one. I was told by a Nurse in one of the churches I had served as Interim pastor that they use Lavender in the hospital settings and it brings a calming touch to sometime difficult situations. My wife uses Lavender in her defuser at night.
