When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Who You Are

Encouraging you to appreciate who you are on near a river.

You are beautiful and valuable for who you are right now!

On day, a crow was living happily until he saw a peacock dancing in the forest. The crow felt very jealous.  He wanted to be as beautiful and happy as the peacock.  His contentment and beauty could not be compared to the peacock’s.  So he had an idea.

“Every day I’ll watch this peacock dance and whenever he drops any feathers, I will pick them up and keep them.  When I have enough, I will stick them on myself and become as beautiful as a peacock”, he thought to himself.

The grumpy crow followed the peacock wherever he went and picked up every dropped feather.  One day he thought he finally had enough feathers.  So he stuck them inside his own feathers and started dancing with joy.  Now he could finally be as happy and beautiful as the peacock.

The next day, the crow searched for the peacock again.  He crept closer and found him with a group of peacocks, dancing.  He felt even more jealous.  So with his new feathers, he joined in the dance.  The peacocks soon realized he was not one of them.  Suddenly all the dancing stopped.  The peacocks spoke to the crow, “Why do you want to act like a peacock?”

“You are beautiful and happy!” replied the crow. “I want to be like you!”

The peacocks replied, “Every one of us has special qualities.  You may not look or act like us, but you have gifts like an intelligent brain that we do not have.  So be satisfied, crow!”

The grumpy crow went home and joined his own friends.  The oldest and wisest crow said to him, “Son, I hear you have learned an important lesson.  You may not look like a peacock, but you are special in your own way.  Be yourself and be happy with who you are.  That is the only way to be truly happy.”

I used to be like that crow.  When I was much younger, I felt that everyone else was more beautiful than I was.  And I was not happy.  Now I am much older.  I realize that beauty comes from the inside and that I am a beautiful person.  And now I am happy.

Recognize your own strengths and beauty and be satisfied with who you are.
