Braver, Stronger, and Smarter

No matter what you need to do, remember that you are braver, stronger, and smarter than you realize.

What Christopher Robin said at the end of the above scene from Winnie the Pooh is very true for all of us. To answer Pooh’s concern about being apart from Christopher Robin, Christopher Robin replied, “Oh, Pooh. If ever there’s a tomorrow when we’re not together, there’s something you must remember. You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

This past week my husband was out of town working on a house.  He encountered a large commercial freezer in one room that had to be moved and had no one to help him.  At age 71, he is not as strong as he used to be.  But somehow, he managed to move that freezer to the garage without bumping into anything at all or hurting himself.

Then yesterday, I injured myself doing a chore outside.  Since we speak often on the phone when we are apart, I told him I had hurt myself.  Planning to return to our home today, he said that he would speak with me in the morning.

Well, I woke up around 8 am and called him.  He was already two hours from home.  Eager to get back so he could help me with the dogs, he began his trip home around midnight.  And he had safely navigated his way to a small town only two hours from our home by 8 am.

My husband is a Vietnam veteran and suffers from more than one health problem.  But he never gives up.  He agrees with Christopher Robin’s statement to Pooh.  When you need to accomplish something, remember that you are braver, stronger, and smarter than you realize!
