Looking for an escape from insects? Here are a few ideas…
It is summer and bugs are everywhere, especially the kind that bite. Some of them carry dangerous diseases!
If you are like me and have sensitive skin, keeping these annoying critters from biting you is important. But sensitive skin cannot tolerate chemicals, so how can a person or a parent prevent bites?
Avon Skin So Soft Original Scent Body Wash
When I wash with this, bugs don’t want to get near me for at least eight hours. It causes me to smell a bit masculine, but it helps prevent insect bites so I do not mind this.
Cover up!
In spite of the summer heat, I wear lightweight long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect against insects. You can find lightweight clothing to cover your arms and legs at any place that sells clothes for hikers.
Natural bug repellants
I buy Cutter’s Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Repellant, and this stuff really works. Where we live in the North Country, there are enough bugs to carry an adult off so I always keep this stuff around.
Bug suit
On those days when it is just too hot to wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, I wear a covering of lightweight mesh that keeps the bugs off of my skin. Mine even has a headpiece to protect my head.

In addition to all of these methods, we use a bug zapper in our yard. Also, Orkin Pest Control fogs our entire yard once a month, from May to September.
