Today I rewarded myself by seeing the new Disney movie Christopher Robin. The movie turned out to be an excellent reward!
For the past month, I have been working to complete a massive SEO overhaul of www.bobbiejrae.com/nearariver. This is grueling for me because my traumatic brain injury often causes me to feel impatient and very frustrated.
I motivated myself to finish this difficult job by reminding myself that I would see the movie Christopher Robin the day after I finished the project. And today my husband and I did just that.
Watching this movie made every minute I spent torturing myself on the SEO project worthwhile!
It begins like the cartoon version does, by introducing the hundred acre woods. Then, Christopher Robin has a party with his animal friends in the woods before going off to boarding school. Christopher Robin meets his wife and joins the military. While he is away, their daughter is born. He returns when she is around age three and gets a job working at Winslow Luggage.
But in a few short years Winslow Luggage begins to have financial problems and its financial problems create problems for Christopher Robin and his family. Fortunately, Christopher reconnects with his childhood and his childhood animal friends. This reconnection inspires his solution to Winslow’s Luggage’s financial problems.
Here are my favorite moments in the movie.
- As Christopher Robin tries to return Pooh to the 100 acre wood from London, people stare at Pooh because Pooh seems to be a talking stuffed bear. Christopher told him that he is different and that people are afraid of what is different.
- When Christopher Robin yelled at Pooh, Pooh disappeared. Christopher Robin searched for him and finally found him and apologized. Pooh’s reply was that he is a bear with little brains, and Christopher’s response was fantastic. His reply was to hug Pooh and tell him he is a bear with much heart.
- Christopher Robin realized toward the end of the movie what the solution to the Winslow Luggage financial crisis was. It came to him in as he sat and reflected on something that Pooh had often said—“From nothing comes something.” Then he thought of a brilliant strategy to save his company.
Yes, the movie is rated PG and has no violence. But it is also a must see, especially for parents of young children.
Disney’s Christopher Robin will remind everyone of what is really important in life.
