Develop Success!

These four habits are used by successful leaders.

Of course, you want to be successful.  You want your children to be successful too.  You know that successful people are readers.  But what else do successful people do?

  • Morning routine.

Successful people spend their mornings doing basic things.  They exercise to release the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (bdnf).  BDNF improves brain function and overall health.

Successful people also keep a journal.  A journal enables a person to reflect on what they plan to accomplish today and what they already have accomplished.

Successful people plan to accomplish their goals each day.  Before I go to bed every night, I type a list of what I want to accomplish the next day and what time I will work on each goal.  I use Google Calendar to plan for weeks at a time in the same manner.  I also schedule time with friends and family.

  • Excel, excel, excel!

Successful people do not just do their work. They go the extra mile with every task or goal.  Today it is uncommon for a business or person to go the extra mile instead of just completing a task.  So if you go the extra mile, you will give others more than they expect.  And you will excel in your business and personal life.

  • Learn daily.

Each day, successful people block out as much time as possible to learn.  They use this time to read, research, or talk with a knowledgeable person.  The more a person knows, the more he can achieve.  Successful people read, read, and read more.

  • Reflection

Successful people reflect on what they have done each day.  This activity helps a person to determine which strategies were successful, how he can do better the next day, etc.  I reflect right before I go to bed each night.

It is difficult to integrate four new habits at once.  If you want to develop these habits, try integrating one habit each week into your life.  In a short period of time, you will be able to integrate all four habits into your life.  Shortly thereafter, you should notice the positive influence of your new habits.

Role model these habits for your children.  Children are more likely to develop these habits when they see their parents practicing them.

Practice the habits of successful people.  Then become a successful person.
