Does Your Body Have a Healthy Bank Account?

Encouragement to give your body a healthy account balance on near a river.

Give your body a healthy bank account!

Your body has a bank account like you probably have.  Do you keep a good balance in this account?

Besides the commonly known things you can do to maintain your body’s bank account—exercise, sleep, and drinking plenty of water, here are few other things you can do.

Maintain a healthy weight!

Maintaining a healthy weight is a huge challenge, especially if you have a sweet tooth like I do.

I have always had a strong sweet tooth.  It used to drive me to munch on sweets at every opportunity but now does not.  I have found a way to change this.

The human body is designed to put you into sugar-craving mode when it senses certain conditions.  I have been consuming vitamin B-2, or riboflavin, to help my body properly metabolize the fat I consume so I feel satisfied and energized.  I consume riboflavin in bananas, dairy, meat, eggs, and fish.

Biotin, also known as vitamin B-7, also helps with this.  Biotin can increase the satisfaction I get from the carbs I eat and reduces my desire for sweets. Biotin helps my body convert carbs into the usable energy source of glucose.

Biotin is easily depleted by antibiotic use, stress and digestive ailments.  Recently when I had to take a very strong antibiotic for a post-surgical wound infection, I craved sweets badly.  Biotin helps my body to use the carbs I eat more efficiently and therefore deters it from wanting more. I eat cooked eggs, nuts, beans and cauliflower to load up on this important nutrient.

A healthy diet.

A good diet for you might not be the same diet that is good for your family members or friends.

I have struggled with chronic anemia most of my life, until recently.  My husband learned how to cook a delicious recipe:  liver and onions with peppers and mushrooms and bacon.  I have been eating this every other day and now there is no evidence of anemia in my bloodwork.  He does not need to eat liver and onions to maintain the iron in his body.

My last blood results were great!  Everything was excellent, even my iron stores and iron levels for the first time that I can remember.  I was happy to get these results, but not surprised.  I have been working very hard to cause these test results.  I strive to give my body a healthy bank account balance every day.

Please try to maintain a healthy bank account for your body also, and for your children.  A healthy child is much more likely to be a healthy and productive adult! If you or your child craves sweets, make sure you and your child get enough of the B vitamins.
