Why should you stay humble no matter how much money you have or how large your home is?
As I have gotten older, I have realized a few reasons we all should stay humble.
- A watch that costs $300 and a watch that costs only $30 tell the same time.
- Both a Michael Kors wallet and a Forever 21 wallet hold the same amount of money.
- Regardless of how much your home costs, it can host the same amount of loneliness.
- My 11 year old Hyundai will drive me just as far as your 2017 Mercedes.
- The jeans I bought at Walmart fit me just as well as the ones you paid $300 for at the mall.
- My 4 year old smart phone performs the same functions as your brand new phone!
I have been very poor, wealthy, and middle class. Regardless of the amount of money in my bank account, what has made me happy is my relationships with others and how much time I spend helping others.
Whatever financial class you fall into, please remember these facts about money and happiness.
- True happiness is not found in material things. It comes from loving each other, laughing together, helping each other, and spending time together.
- The person who stands next to you in the checkout line who looks poor might not actually be poor. Some wealthy people wear common clothes and drive common cars, so please do not judge anyone by his or her appearance.
- Graves dug for us when we die are all the same size. What matters when we die? The good feelings and memories we leave behind for others to remember us by. These memories and good feelings do not depend on any material possessions!
So, even if you have plenty of money and a large home, please stay humble.
