When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

How to Learn Better

Encouraging you to learn better on near a river.

Use these school hacks to learn better yourself or help your child learn better.

Doing your child’s homework for him does not help him or her earn anything, but teaching him how to learn does.

Here are some tips to enable both you and your child to learn better.

Learn better in English!

After writing a paper, copy and paste it on Google Translate, then listen to it to find mistakes.

Use wordhippo.com to find words you cannot remember but can describe.

Learn better in Math!

Download the app Photo Math.  It lets you take pictures of math problems and then teaches you the correct steps to solve them.

When you are reviewing problems for an exam, try to explain out loud what strategy and methods you used to get your solutions. These verbal declarations will come in handy during a test when you need to recall the steps you should take to find a solution. Get additional practice by trying this tactic with a friend.

Learn to remember better!

  • You are more likely to recall something you wrote in blue ink than something you wrote in black ink.
  • Peppermint stimulates the brain and helps you concentrate more.
  • While studying for a certain subject, pretend you must teach the material. This technique will help you pay more attention while you study.
  • Studying hard for thirty to fifty minutes at a time with ten minute breaks in between is the most effective way to study.
  • Yes, eating dark chocolate while studying does help your brain retain information more easily. Click here to read about this.
  • Writing something out is equivalent to reading it seven times.
  • Never multitask when you are trying to learn something.  Multitasking always makes learning more difficult.
  • Share what you have learned with a friend or family member.  Explain it to him or her until he or she understands it.  You will understand it better yourself after you do this.

There are only twenty-four hours in a day and we all need to use them as well as possible.  If we can learn what we need to learn in less time, we will be better off.

We can all benefit from these tips to learn better, not just our kids!
