Live Happily by Letting Live!

Live happily by not letting others drag you down!

Want to know one secret to live happily?  Live your own life and let others live their own lives.

My Mother has always acted different than other mothers.  She would not attend my parent teacher conferences, my school music performances, or my awards ceremonies.  She has always been a different kind of mother.

Yesterday I was speaking with someone who knew me when I was growing up.  She told me she is sorry that my Mother is treating me the way she has been treating me, but she is not surprised.  She said that people in the town I grew up in pretty much thought my Mother was crazy.  They felt sorry for me, growing up with her.

The person I was speaking with is definitely a strong Christian with Christian values.  We attended the same church for years.  Her advice was simply to live and let live.  I asked her if this is unChristian.  “No, you have done all you can do to mend this broken relationship and that your Mother is the crazy one, not me”, she replied.

This conversation made me feel liberated.  Freed from the chains of this relationship that has been broken ever since I can remember as a very young child.  Freed from the stress of trying to communicate with my Mother.

I decided to simply live happily and let my Mother live.  I will not contact her or my sisters.  If they contact me, I will be cordial and loving but I will not initiate the contact.

Parents, teach your children this principle for living happily by your own example.

When you cannot mend a relationship, live happily by letting others live their own lives.
