When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Make Yourself Resilient!

Encouraging you to make yourself resilient on near a river.

You can make yourself resilient!

Some people can overcome any obstacle in life and others do not.  What is the difference between these two groups of people?

Those who overcome any obstacle in life are resilient.  They become resilient because of multiple factors in their lives, some of which they can control and others they cannot.

Factors they cannot control include:

  • Early childhood bond.

A caring adult established a strong bond with a resilient person before the person was three years old.  This bond set the tone for rest of the person’s life.

  • Easy going personality.

Most resilient people have an easy going personality.  I happen to be very resilient but do not have an easy going personality like most others like myself.

And the factors they can control include:

  • The talent factor.

Find something you excel at.

Even if you have not been excelling in your area of talent for most of your life, you can still hone your talent.  Just practice it daily and work as hard as you can.

  • A growth mindset.

Having a growth mindset causes you to believe that you are in charge of your own mind and destiny, and this contributes to resilience.

  • Helping others.

A common thread among adults who survive adversity is that they help others.

When you help others, you realize that you are not the only person in the world with a problem.  My Grandma taught me this throughout all of my growing up years.  When I feel down, I find someone else to help.  Helping someone else reminds me that others have problems too, and oftentimes their problems are bigger than mine.

Although both categories of factors help you become resilient, you do not have to possess the factors you cannot control to become resilient.  Just work on the factors within your control.  With these in place in your life, you will bounce back from anything life throws at you.

Make yourself resilient so you can bounce back no matter what life throws at you and soar like an eagle over life’s storms.
