When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Murphy’s Law

Does this phrase describe how you view your life?  If it does, you are living under the influence of Murphy’s Law.

Encouragement to apply Murphy’s Law to your life in a positive way on near a river.

Most people naturally interpret Murphy’s Law as a pessimistic way to think about life, but they could not be further from the truth.

How was Murphy’s Law coined?

Air Force Captain Edward A. Murphy coined this phrase at Edwards Air Force Base in 1949.  Murphy was in charge of Air Force Project MX981. To minimize challenges in his project, he developed his Law to cause people to think ahead and prepare contingency plans. .

What does Murphy’s Law really mean?

What did he mean by “Murphy’s Law”? If things can go right, you should do your best to make that happen.

He based his law on his expectation that the men working with him would do their best to make everything work out right.

Murphy’s Law is about life, and the importance of thinking about the future. It is also about shifting perspectives regarding “negative” circumstances that life throws at us.

If you live under the influence of Murphy’s Law, you recognize that within every problem exists seeds of opportunity. Cultivating these seeds will enable them to grow into positive outcomes every time you approach a challenge.

Murphy’s Law and your own life…

I have had many many many challenges in my life.  My husband says that if I wrote an autobiography, librarians would shelve it in the fiction section. No one would believe that a person could overcome so many challenges and still be a loving, positive person.   Throughout my life, I have adhered to Murphy’s Law.

Hopefully you now know that Murphy’s Law is about you, how you approach your life, and how you turn the lemons in your life into lemonade.

Since your thoughts determine your failures and successes, you can either let Murphy’s Law work for you or against you.
