A few days ago, a thirty-year-old man spoke his last words, “I thought this was a hoax, but it’s not.”
On July 11, 2020, a man only thirty years young lay on his death bed at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Before taking his last breath, he spoke of the coronavirus party that caused his demise.
“I think I made a mistake.
I thought this was a hoax, but it’s not.”
In Texas, there has been a rash of covid parties, events hosted by people who have the virus to find out if the threat of its spread is real . These ‘celebrations’ have spread the virus and hospitalized and killed attendees.
No, coronavirus isn’t a hoax.
Neither are the events that have been happening in our country recently. As the US treats police officers with unkindness and disrespect and seeks to defund them, crime is on the rise. Innocent bystanders as young as three-years-old have been shot and murdered.
Police officer Derek Chauvin was wrong to kill George Floyd, his night club coworker with whom he had clashed. I am a middle-aged caucasian, and just thinking about how George died still makes me feel very angry. But, I also know Chauvin was a disturbed man with mental problems. He was very different from most police officers, who leave their families every day not knowing if they’ll return to do the job they believe in and love for a small paycheck.. Thank goodness Chauvin will be punished for his crime, but every other officer across the US isn’t liable for what he did.
Since too many officers now find their jobs are impossible to do, they’re retiring or seeking alternative careers. Crime will continue to rise, and soon there simply won’t be enough police to protect us.
One day a violent person will attack you or someone you love and someone will call the police for help. If an officer arrives, (s)he may not arrive quickly enough to save you or your loved one.
Please stand up and let your leaders know you want protection and safety for yourself and your family right now! It is dangerous to wait a single day to let your these important people know how you feel!
Like the thirty-year-old on his death bed,
too late you’ll realize that the threat of
lack of safety wasn’t a hoax.
Let the encouraging words in these near a river posts help you
soar like an eagle above life’s storms.
You can cancel your child’s anger,
Return your life to normal,
create peace again,
and make the world a better place!
