Are you the person your dogs thinks you are?
When I leave my home, our dogs sit and wait for me in a bay window. The whole time I am away, they just sit there and stare out looking for me to return. And when I return, they bark so loudly that they could wake up the dead people in the cemetery 2.5 miles from our home. Unfortunately, we neglected to teach our dogs to not jump on people so they also jump on me until I pick them up and we all have a group hug.
When you leave home, does your dog do the same thing? Does he sit and wait patiently for you to return? Upon your return, does he bark that he loves you excitedly and happily?
Why does he do this? Your dog thinks the world of you!
Believing that you deserve love, just as you are with all of your flaws, he loves you unconditionally. Even when you forget to give him fresh water or put more food in his bowl, he still loves you. When you come home from work and just sit on the couch watching TV for hours, he still loves you.
Knowing that you need affection in addition to love, he gives it to you. If you allow him to sit on your couch or lie in your bed with you, he will rest next to you for hours when you do not feel well. Even though he does not understand everything you say, he always listens when you need to talk.
Your dog looks up at you as though you are the best person in the world. Perhaps you should always remember to be the best person you can be and not let him or any other person in the world down.
Think before you say or do anything. Before you do or say anything, ask yourself how this will impact every living creature around you who might be affected by your actions. If it will hurt or not help a situation, please do not say or do it.
Please be the person your dog thinks you are.
