It seems silly to write a letter to a pet snake, doesn’t it? But what is a pet snake anyway?
Dear Pet Snake (or Gossiping friend),
Having a friend who gossips is just like having a pet snake. Eventually, your gossiping friend or pet snake will bite you and you have bitten me for the last time.
I thought we were friends. We used to talk about everything together and you used to talk about everyone else. Now I know that you also talk about me when I am not around and your words bit me really hard. In fact, your words drew blood right out of my soul.
When I found out what you said about me behind my back, I felt very angry! I told you not to repeat to anyone what I had confided in you about that issue in my life.
Since we have been good friends, I would like to continue our friendship but both of us must follow these rules.
- We will not participate in any conversation we might overhear about each other. When anyone at all is talking about you or me, we should turn a deaf ear to the conversation.
- If someone asks us about each other, we should simply tell that someone to ask the person they want to know about directly.
Please let me know if you can agree to these rules so we can remain friends.
Sincerely,
Your friend
P.S.–Although your gossip has damaged our relationship, I do have to thank you for one thing. Since you were talking about me the other day, you were not talking about or hurting anyone else. Thank you for not hurting anyone else at that moment on that day.
Let the encouraging words in these near a river posts help you
soar like an eagle above life’s storms.
Hugging and love are the two most powerful forces!
Always speak kindly to and about others.
You can never take back words!
Play the game of life well.
