When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

We Need More Protons!

What are protons? Can we learn anything from them?

near a river need more protons encouragement for kids bj rae

I studied both chemistry and physics in college. Over thirty years later, I remember very little of what I learned in these classes. However, I do recall a few things that apply to every person on this planet.

Together protons and electrons form nucleons. One positively charged proton and one negatively charged electron balance each other out and combine with neutrons (which have no charge at all) to form an atom. If the protons and electrons are equal, that atom is electrically neutral. However, if an atom has more or fewer electrons than protons, it has an overall negative or positive charge.

In an atom, protons and neutrons bind inside the nucleus, and electrons orbit the nucleus.  Everything in the universe is made of atoms. Electrons are tiny compared to protons and therefore carry less weight.

We humans are like these positively and negatively charged particles.

  • Negative people don’t carry the weight that positive people carry. Their attitude makes them small in the bigger scheme of things.
  • Yes, there will always be negative people, but positive people constantly try to cancel the negativity around them.
  • Those who are positive connect with others effectively, but negative people just don’t do this. Also, life revolves around positive people who naturally accomplish more by working with others than their negative counterparts.
  • A person is better off as a neutron than an electron. Although they have no electrical charge, neutrons bind with positive forces instead of negative ones.

If you want to get things done instead of being on the outside, you need to be like a proton.  As a proton, you can work with others effectively from the inside instead of being on the outside. This applies to all facets of life—school, work, home life, and politics. If you don’t want to be positive, it’s best to simply be neutral and not work against those who are trying to improve the world.

We need to stop tearing each other down and act like protons! We must stop allowing negative people to influence us and work together instead.

The only way to improve life for all Americans is to act like protons

and teach our youth to do the same!
