Be Proud of Your Scars!

Encouragement to be proud of your scars on near a river.

Be proud of your scars, not ashamed!

In Japan, when someone breaks a bowl, (s)he puts it back together by filling the cracks with gold. Thus creating a beautiful lining.

This is done in Japan to emphasize the beauty of what was once broken.  Suffering damage and now having a history makes an object even more beautiful than it was.

The same goes for human beings. Although your life may feel uglier to you when you go through a difficult time, all that you have been through and are going through now does make your life uglier. It is up to you to paint your struggles with gold and make your life beautiful.

You are never broken beyond repair. As long as you pick yourself up and learn from what has happened, you make your life beautiful. And you make yourself a better person because of the struggles you have survived.

Wear your scars proudly

as a badge of honor to say to the world,

“Look at what I have been through.

It has made me who I am today,

and I can get through anything

that life puts in front of me now.”

Do not be ashamed of what has happened to you!

Everything that has happened to you has happened for a reason.  When you deny and complain and do not accept what has happened to you, your struggles and challenges are not useful.  But the moment you accept your life struggles and challenges, you find what is useful in them.  And you paint the cracks in your life with gold and turn your life into something beautiful. You turn something that could be ugly into something beautiful and inspiring.

When what you have been through inspires others, then all of your struggles are worthwhile.

Do not get stuck on how things used to be! Leonardo DiCaprio said, “Every next level of life will demand a new you.” Sometimes it takes being broken to become a new version of yourself.

Be proud of your scars!
