I Give You Three Feathers

Encouragement to live by these three feathers on Near a River.

Today I give you three feathers to enable you to succeed…

Do you know how arrows are made?

The arrowsmith forms the arrow with wood, and then he gives it to a fletcher who attaches the feathers to it.  Believe it or not, the most important part of the process is adding the feathers, because the feathers make the arrow fly straight.  Three feathers make up the end of the arrow to make it fly quickly and straight.

So today I give you three feathers to enable your arrows to fly straight so you can reach your goals in the next year.

  • The first feather, “Integrity”

The English language derives this word from the Latin word ‘integer’ (meaning whole and complete). Integrity requires an inner sense of ‘wholeness’ and consistency of character. When you have integrity, people see it in your actions, words, decisions, methods, and outcomes. When you are ‘whole’ and consistent, you bring that same you wherever you are, regardless of what happens around you. You don’t leave parts of yourself behind. You don’t have a ‘work you,’ a ‘family you,’ and a ‘social you.’ Integrity means that you are YOU all the time.

  • The second feather, “Unconditional love for yourself”

Unconditional love means loving without conditions or limits.  It has no bounds and never changes.  Evy MacDonald, whose doctors diagnosed her with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease and gave her only 6 months to live, learned to love herself unconditionally and overcame her ALS.

Love yourself unconditionally because unconditional love changes your thoughts, feelings, and how you interact with the world itself. Then the miracle of healing and success occurs in your body and in your life.

  • The third feather, “Loving your neighbor as yourself”

Matthew 5:43-48 instructs us to love all people as our neighbors.  Also, it states that we should not exclude anyone from our love because of social status, a character fault, religious differences, racial differences, ethnic differences, citizenship differences, etc.

If everyone in the world loved their neighbors as themselves, no one would hurt anyone else.  There would be no violence or hatred.  I would love to live in a world without violence and hatred.  Wouldn’t you?
