When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

For Our Troops

It is Christmas and we should and can let our troops know we care about them.

Christmas is upon us.

It is time to celebrate with loved ones, but some people cannot celebrate with loved ones because they are protecting our country.  They cannot come home for Christmas.  They are in Afghanistan, Germany, South America, and other places instead of being with their loved ones.

Did you know you can do encourage our brave protectors at no cost to you?

Here are some of the ways you can encourage our troops overseas this holiday season and throughout the year.

  • Send Hershey’s candy.

Hershey’s will send chocolate care packages to deployed military members.  All you have to do to send a Hershey’s care package is click here and enter the person’s information.

  • Submit a name to Operation Shoe Box.

Operation Shoe Box will send packages to a deployed service member or individual packages to an entire platoon, unit, or battalion.  Click here to submit the information and send support and love to our troops!

  • Send care packages to a soldier in a war zone.

Is your loved one in a war zone?  If he or she is, you can ask Operation We Care to send him or her care package.  Click here to request a care package.

  • Honor a female service member.

There is one organization that brings joy and femininity to deployed US servicewomen through care packages geared toward women.  If you have a female loved one overseas, contact Operation Courage is Beautiful here.

  • Connected to Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona?

If your deployed loved one is connected with Luke Air Force Base, contact Operation Thunder Box here.  Operation Thunder Box reminds each airman that Americans at home have not forgotten him or her.

Written with uplifting words of encouragement, Near a River is a photographic children's book about two young bald eagles who are eager for their mother to teach them to fly so they may soar over the storms in their lives. Near a River encourages early childhood reading. BJ hopes that every child becomes a strong reader and soars above the storms in life.
