{"id":1221,"date":"2017-04-08T20:47:32","date_gmt":"2017-04-09T01:47:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nearariver.com\/?p=1221"},"modified":"2026-09-10T11:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T15:23:09","slug":"example-children-eagle-near-river-bj-rae-encouraging-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bobbiejrae.com\/nearariver\/example-children-eagle-near-river-bj-rae-encouraging-words\/","title":{"rendered":"An Example for Your Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em>Teach your children key principals for success through your example.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When I was growing up, my role models\u2014my Sunday School teacher, my grandmother, my neighbor, my teachers in school&#8212;set examples for all children around them.\u00a0 Their examples taught me these \u00a0five key principals that have contributed greatly to my success and have enabled me to be a leader.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Always do your best.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The role models I chose \u00a0always did their best regardless of\u00a0 their situation.\u00a0 Even when their best did not seem to be enough, they always did their best.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Learn from your failures<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When I earned a C minus in math in the fourth grade, my role models encouraged me to keep trying.\u00a0 I did.\u00a0 And in the sixth grade, I was an A student in <em>gifted<\/em> math.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Like yourself.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My role models taught me that it is not important to fit in.\u00a0 It is important to like yourself.<\/p>\n<p>They did not worry about what others thought about them.\u00a0 They lived so that they liked themselves.\u00a0 For example, my favorite Sunday School teacher was also the church secretary.\u00a0 She did not care if others liked her.\u00a0 She did her best at all times and therefore liked herself.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Always excel.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The key adults in my life always tried to excel in everything they did, even if they had to learn a new skill to do this.\u00a0 I learned by watching them that I should always try to excel in everything I do. \u00a0Even if I must find a way to learn new concepts and skills first.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Be loving, compassionate, forgiving, and kind.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They also performed random acts of kindness every chance they could.\u00a0 I watched them forgive others.\u00a0 I watched them treat others with compassion instead of judging.
