Martin Luther King served both humanity and peace by teaching others how to live with each other.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone would agree that Martin Luther King Jr served humanity, as his niece stated this morning on the news.<\/span><\/p>\n

Webster defines humanity as \u201cthe human race; human beings collectively\u201d or \u201chumaneness; benevolence\u201d.<\/p>\n

His teachings about humanity illustrate his beliefs about peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe may have all come on different ships, but we\u2019re in the same boat now.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

All Americans–Democrats, Republicans, and others\u2014must realize something.\u00a0 We are all in the boat of a country in disarray, and we all must work together to fix it\u2014in spite of our diverse backgrounds and beliefs.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

All Americans, regardless of their political party affiliation, need to start living!\u00a0 We all need to rise above ourselves and understand the issues that others have.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lie cannot live.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Others eventually discover someone else\u2019s lies, so it is best not to lie in the first place.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have decided to stick with love.\u00a0 Hate is too great a burden to bear.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hate destroys the hater, not the hated.\u00a0 So if you want to destroy yourself, go on hating others.\u00a0 Hurt others, lie about them, and treat them disrespectfully.\u00a0 In the end, you will be the person burdened by your own behavior.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sure, we all say we do not want war, and that we all want peace instead.\u00a0 But peace requires sacrifice.\u00a0 To have peace, we must be willing to put others interests above our own.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don\u2019t know each other; they don\u2019t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The current leadership of the US government obviously needs to reflect on this quote. Then both sides need to sit down together, get to know each other and start communicating.\u00a0 Communication is the key to successfully resolving problems.<\/p>\n

For some, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is just a free day off from school or work, but it is so much more than that! \u00a0The United States celebrates this man\u2019s life because he was one of the world\u2019s greatest peacemakers!<\/p>\n

Today we all need to recall that Martin Luther King Jr. was a peacemaker and apply his teachings to our lives.<\/p>\n
