Unfortunately, all I can do right now is enjoy the beautiful sight outside my window.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I awakened shortly after six o\u2019clock and gazed through the bedroom window. The sun was rising over the mountains. Its rays glistened on the tree branches and created a warm glow on the curtains by the glass. This beautiful sight made me feel peaceful and calm.<\/p>\n

I turned on the TV to watch the news. A broadcaster announced that the House of Representatives had passed a 1.9 trillion dollar coronavirus stimulus package, but less than nine percent of the funds will reach the pockets of Americans in need. The rest of the money is for things totally unrelated to the virus: a bridge from Chuck Schumer\u2019s New York to Canada, an underground transportation system from Nancy Pelosi\u2019s San Diego area home to other parts of California, benefits foreign countries, and many others. Sadly, most of this package is simply government pork.<\/p>\n

My thoughts turned to future generations of Americans. Why don’t we<\/em> care about future generations of Americans? Washington now seems to believe that taxes on the wealthy will take care of our current thirty trillion in debt plus this additional amount. But, even if every American who earns more than $250,000 a year paid eighty-five percent in taxes, we\u2019d still be in debt! We are creating such a huge fiscal problem that will do one of two things: it will either cause our government to collapse under the weight of the tremendous deficit, or it will increase taxes on future generations to unreasonable levels. <\/em><\/p>\n

I pity kids today and their offspring!<\/em><\/h4>\n

They\u2019ll inherit their parents’ bills<\/em><\/h4>\n

and will pay more than half their income to the feds. <\/em><\/h4>\n

Sadly, if their country doesn\u2019t collapse, <\/em><\/h4>\n

they\u2019ll never afford a nice home<\/em><\/h4>\n

or even a trip to see a beautiful view.<\/em><\/h4>\n

Passing along our debt to innocent young and future citizens seems wrong to me. But perhaps I shouldn\u2019t worry about this. I voted for politicians who want those who follow them to enjoy good life, but I only have one vote and cannot counter the unintentional effects of other voters\u2019 desires. Also, I have a health condition that will shorten my life, so most likely I won\u2019t be alive when the crap hits the fan.<\/p>\n

Worrying about the future won\u2019t help my health or improve the US debt or economy. I wish I could change things for the innocent victims of Washington\u2019s current decisions, but I cannot. So, for now, I\u2019ll just enjoy looking at the beautiful view outside my window.<\/p>\n
