Do you want to be successful?<\/p>\n<p>John Tesh in his book <u>Intelligence for Your Life<\/u> writes that \u201cGod planted in us a conscience and a desire to love others\u201d.\u00a0 He describes the benefits of volunteering and helping others.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/11467248\">Helping others<\/a>\u00a0helps you in several ways.<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Increases your sense of well-being,<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Reduces your anxiety and worrying,<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Alleviates chronic pain,<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>And reduces depression.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A volunteer feels happier and more satisfied with his life, has better physical and mental health, and feels more in control of his life. He is also more successful than others who do not spend time helping others.<\/p>\n<p>My Grandma helped others every chance she got.\u00a0 When her street was renamed, it was renamed after her.\u00a0 I do not care to have a street named after me, but I copy her every chance I get.\u00a0 I have personally experienced the benefits of volunteering and helping others.<\/p>\n<p>When I was going through my divorce, I volunteered at a homeless shelter.\u00a0 I served meals, cleaned, sorted clothing, and did anything else I could.\u00a0 When I worked at the shelter, the loss of control I was feeling due to the divorce seemed to vanish.\u00a0 I felt happy instead of depressed.<\/p>\n<p>I still help others.\u00a0 Every day I pick up trash along the road in the town I live in and I care for people\u2019s homes and pets while they travel. Every chance I can,\u00a0 I help any of my neighbors with anything I can\u2014regardless of how small or unimportant the task may seem. Even if the task is simply picking up their pet&#8217;s poop!<\/p>\n<p>Want to be successful?\u00a0 Always remember that volunteering gives you a positive outlook on life, makes you feel more in control of your life, and improves your physical and mental health.\u00a0 It also enables you to make positive social connections. These factors all contribute to success!<\/p>\n<p>Parents, teach your children to be successful!
