Want to know one secret to live happily?\u00a0 Live your own life and let others live their own lives.<\/p>\n

My Mother has always acted different than other mothers.\u00a0 She would not attend my parent teacher conferences, my school music performances, or my awards ceremonies.\u00a0 She has always been a different kind of mother.<\/p>\n

Yesterday I was speaking with someone who knew me when I was growing up.\u00a0 She told me she is sorry that my Mother is treating me the way she has been treating me, but she is not surprised.\u00a0 She said that people in the town I grew up in pretty much thought my Mother was crazy.\u00a0 They felt sorry for me, growing up with her.<\/p>\n

The person I was speaking with is definitely a strong Christian with Christian values.\u00a0 We attended the same church for years.\u00a0 Her advice was simply to live and let live.\u00a0 I asked her if this is unChristian.\u00a0 \u201cNo, you have done all you can do to mend this broken relationship and that your Mother is the crazy one, not me\u201d, she replied.<\/p>\n

This conversation made me feel liberated.\u00a0 Freed from the chains of this relationship that has been broken ever since I can remember as a very young child.\u00a0 Freed from the stress of trying to communicate with my Mother.<\/p>\n

I decided to simply live happily and let my Mother live.\u00a0 I will not contact her or my sisters.\u00a0 If they contact me, I will be cordial and loving but I will not initiate the contact.<\/p>\n

Parents, teach your children this principle for living happily by your own example.<\/p>\n

When you cannot mend a relationship, live happily by letting others live their own lives.<\/p>\n
