Use your pen to resolve issues!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Today I disputed a financial transaction.\u00a0 Supervisor Ann in customer service told me\u00a0 on the phone that it would take at least 30 days to resolve the issue.\u00a0 She also stated I had to send documents through snail mail, but I wanted and needed faster results.<\/p>\n

Two Examples<\/h4>\n

Rereading all of my journal entries about this issue, I decided to write a letter to the CEO of the company as effectively as possible.\u00a0 I found the email extension for the company and the CEO\u2019s name on the internet. I guessed the CEO\u2019s email address is first initial, last name, then email extension.\u00a0 And I guessed correctly.<\/p>\n

I sent this email around 6:45 pm EST.\u00a0 I received a reply thirty minutes later, that the Corporate Resolutions Department is working on the issue and will resolve it by noon tomorrow.<\/p>\n

When I could not get the Veterans Administration to process my husband\u2019s disability claim, I did the same thing.\u00a0 I found the fax numbers for Robert MacDonald (the VA Secretary in Washington, DC at the time), the director of the VA center that was processing his claim, and the House Committee on VA Affairs.\u00a0 I wrote a cover letter and faxed to all three of them copies of the relevant entries from my journal.<\/p>\n

My husband\u2019s claim was approved within two weeks.<\/p>\n

Writing effectively<\/h4>\n

To write effectively, you need to use good grammar and spelling.\u00a0 You also need to have a decent vocabulary.\u00a0 If you possess these, you just need a quiet place to pen and edit your writing.\u00a0 Then you need to be creative in how you try to submit your writing to its intended audience.\u00a0 Usually snail mail is not the best way.\u00a0 I have found it is usually best to find the person\u2019s email address or fax number and send it electronically.<\/p>\n

I could have argued with the customer service supervisor today.\u00a0 Probably that would have accomplished nothing.\u00a0 Instead I chose the mightiest way I know:\u00a0 using my pen.<\/p>\n

Always remember the pen is mightier than the sword!\u00a0 Also remember that reading as often as possible is one key to being a good writer.\u00a0 The more you read, the better you write.<\/p>\n

Parents, read to your children.\u00a0 Enable them to grow up to be readers.\u00a0 Good readers are more likely to be good writers and solve problems with a pen!<\/p>\n

Fight your battles with your pen and soar like an eagle over the storms in your life.<\/p>\n
