water I drank will help me live longer.<\/p>\n<p>There are some ways you can extend your life, though!\u00a0 You can try these inexpensive and easy-to-do techniques to extend your life.<\/p>\n<h4>Help others<\/h4>\n<p>At least 40 studies I have found suggest that helping someone else each day adds years to your life.\u00a0 It can be something small, like holding the door for a stranger or making a small donation to help someone in need. \u00a0The good feeling that comes from helping others\u00a0 spurs the release of more than 200 natural compounds called neuropeptides.\u00a0 Neuropeptides help your brain, heart, liver, and immune system to function their best.<\/p>\n<p>Every day I try to help at least three people outside my family.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au\/health\/healthyliving\/the-dangers-of-sitting\">Walking two minutes every hour<\/a>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>I have heard that all the time I spend sitting and writing is not good for me, that it increases my risk for an untimely and premature death.\u00a0 Walking two minutes every hour can lower a person\u2019s risk for an untimely death by 33%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kinesophy.com\/how-walking-makes-you-more-creative\/\">Walking also positively affects creativity<\/a>, so it might help me as a writer, too!<\/p>\n<h4>Drinking Green and Hibiscus tea\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Drinking green or hibiscus tea each day can reduce your risk of diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/entry\/cup-of-tea-every-day-could-reduce-dementia-risk_uk_58cbb564e4b0be71dcf38ae6\">Drinking green tea can also reduce your risk for dementia by 50%, and your risk for Alzheimer\u2019s by as much as 85%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My traumatic brain injury increases my risk for dementia so I drink green tea every day of my life.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2016\/aug\/08\/book-up-for-a-longer-life-readers-die-later-study-finds\">Read before going to bed<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Relax for as little as 15 minutes before going to bed.\u00a0 Turn off all electronics and read a book or magazine.\u00a0 You will double your chances of drifting off to sleep quickly and getting seven and a half hours of sleep, according to researchers at Cornell University.<\/p>\n<p>Seven and a half hours of sleep is needed each night to repair and replace damaged tissues, slow cellular aging, and charge your immune system.\u00a0 The effects of getting enough sleep could add up to three and a half years to your life!<\/p>\n<p>I love to read and look forward to my nightly reading bedtime routine!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Each one of us is getting older every day.\u00a0 But we can take care of ourselves and minimize the negative effects of getting older.\u00a0 We can reduce our medical issues and improve our quality of life if we
