Why do you always get this backward?\u201d he laughingly replies.<\/p>\n<p>This is how every day begins now, in the present time.<\/p>\n<h4>But it was not always this way.<\/h4>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>She was alone and lonely and so was he.\u00a0 But they were living hundreds of miles apart and probably would never find each other.<\/p>\n<p>She was a mobile computer technician, working for herself.\u00a0 He was a self-employed computer programmer.\u00a0 Both had kind hearts and loved helping others.\u00a0 They both loved animals and travelling.\u00a0 They had much in common.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each had started online dating profiles several years before, but neither one of them trusted the other sex enough to make a connection due to past relationships that turned out badly&#8211;until they found each other online.\u00a0 First, they communicated through email.\u00a0 Then, they spoke on the phone for many months.<\/p>\n<p>When she had a nasty umbilical hernia and had to stay in bed for a while, he was kind and helpful to her&#8211;as much as he could be from a distance.\u00a0 Her hernia was resolved surgically and life moved on.\u00a0 A few months later, he called her.\u00a0 During an ultrasound of his liver, tumors were found in his pancreas.\u00a0 He sounded very sad in that phone call on a cold January day.<\/p>\n<p>Haltingly, crying, he said, \u201cI do not want to have surgery, I would rather just let it go until I die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why did he say this? He was a sole practitioner, a computer programmer who worked alone.\u00a0 If his clients found out that he had pancreatic tumors or cancer, he would lose his business.<\/p>\n<p>She thought fast.\u00a0 Wanting to give this kind man a reason to live, she asked him,\u00a0 \u201cWhat if I come to your home, learn how to do your programming, and do your work for you while you are recovering from your surgery?\u00a0 Then would you have the surgery?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Loving the idea of having a woman in his life again, he said he would think about this.<\/p>\n<p>Two months later he sent a friend to bring her to his home.\u00a0 She gave up her own business to learn his.\u00a0 It took two months, but she finally learned how to do his work well enough to submit his work in his name while he was recovering from surgery.<\/p>\n<p>During the surgery, the hospital allowed her to stay in his room with the computer.\u00a0 She massaged him when he was in pain and did his work for him.\u00a0 His clients never suspected that someone else was doing his work for him or that he was in the hospital recovering from major surgery.<\/p>\n<h4>The rest of this love story is history.<\/h4>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>This man and woman are now married happily and spend most of every day together.<\/p>\n<p>I know the people in this love story very well.\u00a0 They are my husband and myself.<\/p>\n<p>We live every day of our lives being kind to each other and other people.\u00a0 And we have a common purpose:\u00a0 to be kind to as many people as possible each day. We always put each other and other people first.\u00a0 We are best friends. And we are happy together.<\/p>\n<p>Kindness is one of the most powerful forces in the universe.\u00a0 So is love.
