Part one in an encouraging series of posts on how to mend relationships.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

My Grandma only had a second grade education but she was very wise.\u00a0 She taught me so many things about life in what she told me and by her example.\u00a0 One thing she taught me was how to mend a broken relationship.<\/p>\n

Grandma said that when a relationship seems broken, you have to examine it to see if it is beneficial to you or the other person.\u00a0 If it is not, she told me, you can just walk away.\u00a0 But, she added, most relationships are beneficial so you should try to mend them.<\/p>\n

When trying to mend a relationship, you first have to commit to truly loving the other person.\u00a0 Truly loving someone means giving love without conditions, as well as accepting a person for who he is\u2014the good parts, the bad parts, and the in-between parts.<\/p>\n

You first must decide you want to love the person, then you must actually do it.\u00a0 Remember that love is more than words, it is actions and communication.\u00a0 Love also is making yourself available to the other person and being open and honest with him.<\/p>\n

This step takes time, because you must first forgive him for what he has done that upset you before you can start showing him love.<\/p>\n

For example, if your husband comes home from work late on a night which you had an evening event planned, forgive him.\u00a0 Even before he walks in the door, forgive him.\u00a0 Then when he does get home safely, you should not speak in an upset tone, but a loving tone instead.\u00a0 Also hug him before you even say a word to him.\u00a0 Then speak using \u201cI-statements\u201d.\u00a0 Say something like this, \u201cI feel frustrated when you come home late and we have evening plans.\u00a0 Please try to get home on time especially when we have plans.\u201d<\/p>\n

You can mend any relationship with love.\u00a0 Love builds bridges between people and enables them to work their problems out.<\/p>\n

Mend relationships with love and soar like an eagle over life’s storms!<\/p>\n
