{"id":5908,"date":"2017-12-27T21:48:31","date_gmt":"2017-12-28T02:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nearariver.com\/?p=5908"},"modified":"2026-09-10T11:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T15:23:09","slug":"politely-firmly-say-no-near-river-bj-rae-eagle-encouraging-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bobbiejrae.com\/nearariver\/politely-firmly-say-no-near-river-bj-rae-eagle-encouraging-words\/","title":{"rendered":"Politely and Firmly Say No"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><em>You can politely and firmly say no to others&#8217; requests for your time.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Does this describe you?\u00a0 Your friends and acquaintances expect you to say yes to everything they want you to do.\u00a0 You feel you don\u2019t want to do it but you say yes anyway.\u00a0 \u201cNo!\u201d you want to shout, but you say yes with a smile anyway.\u00a0 Then you feel angry with yourself and the other person too.<\/p>\n<p>However, you never let the other person know your true feelings.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that your own needs and wants are just as important as anyone else\u2019s?\u00a0 Sure, it is good to help others, but you also need to help yourself maintain a healthy mental perspective by giving yourself the time you need to care for yourself.<\/p>\n<p>A friend of mine never almost never says no to anyone.\u00a0 She is divorced, has several children, a full time job, does volunteer work, and has many other responsibilities.\u00a0 She struggles to say no and then feels frustrated with herself and the other person because she did not say no.\u00a0 How can she say no to others politely and respectfully, without hurting the other person\u2019s feelings?<\/p>\n<p>She could simply say she has something else to do.
