When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

To the Ones

By James Engstrand

This is for the ones who have pushed me to the ground.

Who have beaten me.

Who have used me.

That I was lost and couldn’t be found.

This is for the ones who have called me so many names,

Such as loser,

A nothing.

I didn’t feel the same

And my mind was telling me,

“End it all in one day.”

The brutal words that I’ve heard.

Couldn’t even dare to say,

But a repeat of a pronoun,

A word I hear every day,

Is the word “Y-O-U” that I can easily say.

When being called those names

And being pushed to the ground.

You can get lost but you can be found.

The words I’ve heard I once thought were true,

But one word stands out to me, and that’s “Y-O-U”.

I looked in the mirror and simply said this,

“You’re not a loser, you’re a winner at this.

“You’re not a nothing, you have a gift!”

And I say that to myself every day that I live.

I may never forget but I will always forgive.

So I say thank you to the ones who have pushed me to the ground.

Who have beaten me.

Who have used me.

I now know what I’ve found.

Thank you to to the ones who have called me so many names.

I am a winner.

A something.

And I will take it to the grave.

Don’t listen to the “ones” in your life!  If you look inside yourself, you will find that you, too, have a gift.

This holiday season, never forget that you are a winner! NEVER GIVE UP!

Happy holidays to everyone,

especially those who don’t feel joy during the holidays!

Let the encouraging words in these posts help you

soar like an eagle above life’s storms.

It’s not too late…

A post about a promise.
