When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Happy Friggatriskaidekaphobia!

Today is friggatriskaidekaphobia day,..
How can you overcome your fear?

friggatriskaidekaphobia Friday the 13th near a river bj rae encouraging words bald eagle

My last thought before I went to bed last night was that the morning would bring Friday the thirteenth and friggatriskaidekaphobia, once again.

In the past, this infamous spot on the calendar has at times brought unpleasant things my way.

Oh, no!

I thought when I dressed at seven am,

It’s already starting to be a bad day.

I just hope nothing else annoying happens.

I decided to think about whatever good happened instead of focusing on the negative, and I found three big things to be happy about:

  • Having no physical pain for the first day in many years. (I have had many painful health issues, including orthopedic problems, for many years, and today my body hurt nowhere!
  • Being allergy-free! Yesterday we moved from a campground where my allergies bothered me to another one right by the East coast, where the breeze from the ocean blows clean air with no pollution or allergens.
  • Eliminating a huge financial hassle. Today we are selling our NJ home finally and we will no longer have to maintain a large home where we cannot live due to my allergies.

As I dwelt upon these things instead of my aggravations with our RV and many other things, my day improved and I was able to think more clearly about how to solve our problems.

My strategy for have a having a good day works every day for me, not just on Friday the 13th.  When your day doesn’t seem to go well, it might help you, too.

I hope you and your loved ones overcome friggatriskaidekaphobia!
