When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Your Jar of Life

Encouraging you to fill your jar of life with positive thoughts on near a river.

What is in your “jar of life”?

One day a philosophy teacher placed an empty jar on his desk. He proceeded to fill it up with ping pong balls until he could fit no more.

Then he asked his class if everyone agreed the jar was full, and everyone agreed.

He then added jelly beans. The jelly beans filled the spaces between the balls and again he asked his students if the jar was full.  Again, every student agreed.

The teacher poured sand in and the sand filled in all of the empty space.  Once again, he asked the class if the jar was full and every student agreed it was full.

Then he poured water in and once again his class agreed the jar was full.

Then he said to his class, “Students, I want you to realize that this jar represents your life.  The balls represent the most important good things in your life—your health, family, friends, and passions.  The jelly beans represent the other good things in your life, like your career, home, and responsibilities. The sand is the negative stuff in your life. If you put the sand in first, there is no room for anything else. The water represents how your thoughts affect your life.  Water causes everything to mix together, just as your thoughts cause your actions.”

If you spend all of your time and energy on the negative stuff, you will never have time for the positives. So spend your time wisely and focus on the things that make you happy.  Do not dwell on the negatives in your life.  Think positively if you want to be happy.  And always remember that your thoughts cause you to do the things you do.

If you want to soar like an eagle over the storms in your life, keep your priorities in order in your jar of life at all times!
